Country Comparison Atlas
A Living Global Atlas

How are these places similar? How are they different?

Compare any two countries, territories, or regions side by side across geography, demographics, culture, economy, infrastructure, and more — not to rank them, but to understand scale and difference.

VS

Borders & Neighbours

Every country and territory as a flag, joined by a line to each neighbour it shares a land border with.

Click a flag to see its neighbours. It stays selected until you click another flag.

Territorial anomalies

Click one to see where it is and why it is unusual.

All land borders as a list

Borders and lengths: CIA World Factbook "Land boundaries" (January 2026 edition, its last), cross-checked against Wikipedia's list of countries by number of land borders; where the two disagree the Factbook figure is used and the choice is noted. Bridge- and tunnel-only links (Channel Tunnel, Øresund, Johor and King Fahd causeways) are not land borders and are not drawn. Positions are approximate centres (Google DSPL), nudged apart for legibility. Flags: flag-icons (MIT).

Special Comparisons

Relative scale, a normalized multi-metric radar, and a simplified age-structure comparison.

Relative Scale

Multi-Metric Radar

Each axis is normalized to a fixed reference scale (see Math note below), so the two shapes are directly comparable — not a ranking, just a shape comparison.

Age Structure (broad brackets)

Approximate share aged 0–14 / 15–64 / 65+. A simplification of a true 5-year-band population pyramid, which this dataset doesn't carry.

Growth Over Time

Indexed view: each line starts at 100 in its first available year, so trajectories are comparable regardless of the two entities' very different absolute scale. Hover a point for the actual value. Some entities/years have no data (border or currency-history reasons) and are simply skipped, not estimated.
