Devotion
Sustained commitment and action toward someone or something, which can outlast the felt intensity of Love itself.
How it shows up
Devotion shows up in sustained acts of commitment: caring for an aging parent, practicing a craft for decades, showing up for a cause, a faith, or a partner through hard seasons. It is often more visible in action than in feeling. It can give life structure and meaning. What distinguishes it is its persistence, since it can continue steadily through periods when the felt intensity of love is low.
How it differs from Love
Love can rise and fall in felt intensity; devotion is the sustained commitment and action that can outlast those fluctuations.
Notice
Notice what you keep showing up for, even on days when the feeling is quiet.
Where it is felt
Felt most in the chest, face and arms.
