Animation Sequence

A series of frames or movements that together create the illusion of motion or narrative.

In practice

An animation sequence is a run of frames or movements that together create the illusion of motion or tell a small story. In interface work it might be the half-second sequence of a menu sliding in, easing to a stop and fading in its items; in a title film it is a series of shots. Designers plan the timing of each step, since a sequence that is too slow feels sluggish and one too fast goes unnoticed.

Often confused with Motion Graphics

An animation sequence is one specific run of frames or movements; motion graphics is the broader field of animated graphic elements.

Try this

Draw a bouncing ball across eight sticky notes, one position per note, and flip through them to see the motion.
