Motion Graphics

Animated visual elements used to convey information, narrative, or aesthetic expression over time.

In practice

Motion graphics are animated graphic elements, such as type, shapes, icons, charts and illustrations, used to explain, tell a story or set a mood over time. Common examples include a film's title sequence, an animated explainer showing how a payment app works, or a chart whose bars grow as a narrator speaks. Compared with character animation, the focus is on graphic design elements in motion.

Often confused with Animation Sequence

Motion graphics is the field of animated graphic elements; an animation sequence is one specific run of frames within any animated work.
