Case Study
A documented design project that shows the original problem, the process taken, and the final solution.
In practice
A case study tells the story of one design project from problem to result: the starting situation, the research and decisions made, the dead ends, and the outcome with evidence that it worked. Designers write them for portfolios and so teams can learn from past work. A case study of a parking app redesign might show early sketches, test findings, before-and-after screens and how many fewer people abandoned payment.
Often confused with portfolio
A portfolio is a collection of finished work; a case study explains one project in depth, including its problem, process and outcome.
Try this
Pick one past project and write five sentences: the problem, two key decisions, the result, and what you would change.
