Moodboard
A curated collection of visual references used to convey a project's intended style, mood, and concept.
In practice
A moodboard is a curated collection of images, colors, textures, type samples and materials that shows the feeling and direction a project is aiming for, before any final design exists. It helps a team and a client agree on direction early. A moodboard for a calm meditation app might gather misty landscapes, muted greens, rounded typefaces and linen textures.
Often confused with Mind Map
A moodboard communicates a visual direction through references; a mind map explores ideas and their relationships, usually in words.
Try this
Collect twelve images that express one word, such as quiet, then remove any that pull in a different direction.
