Construction

The method and logic by which parts are assembled into a functional or visual whole.

In practice

Construction is how parts are assembled into a whole and the logic behind that assembly. It applies to physical objects, such as how a chair's legs join its seat, and to visual ones, such as how a geometric logo is built from circles and squares on a grid. Showing a logo's construction lines in a brandbook helps others redraw it accurately at any size.

Often confused with Structure

Construction is the method of assembling parts; structure is the resulting internal organization that holds those parts together.

Try this

Redraw a simple geometric logo using only a compass and ruler, writing down each step of its construction.
