Frustration
Tension from a blocked goal specifically — the appraisal is 'something is stopping me,' not 'someone wronged me,' and can occur with no other person involved.
How it shows up
Frustration flares when something blocks a goal: a jammed printer, a slow website, a skill that will not come together. It often brings muscle tension, sighing, or an urge to push harder or give up. It can signal that a strategy is not working and something needs to change. Because it is about the obstacle rather than a wrongdoer, it happens readily when no other person is involved.
How it differs from Anger
Frustration is about a blocked goal and needs no wrongdoer; anger usually involves a sense that someone or something has done wrong.
Notice
When frustration builds, notice what exactly is in the way, and whether it is a thing, a person, or yourself.
Where it is felt
Felt most in the chest, head and arms.
