How it shows up
Delight often arrives with small, unexpected gifts: a surprise note, a dish better than imagined, a bird landing nearby. There is usually a bright lift, perhaps a laugh, and an urge to point it out to someone else. It seems to mark when the world exceeds what we expected. Its signature is the element of pleasant surprise, which gives it a lighter, more sparkling quality than plain joy.
How it differs from Joy
Joy responds to something good; delight is joy sharpened by surprise, when something turns out better than you expected.
Notice
Notice the small things that turn out better than you expected, and how your face responds.
Where it is felt
Felt most in the chest, face and hands.
