Jealousy
A blend of fear of loss, anger, and insecurity, requiring a third party who threatens an existing relationship or possession.
How it shows up
Jealousy appears when a valued relationship seems threatened by someone else: a partner's attention drifting, a close friend's new friend, a sibling getting favor. It often mixes fear of loss, anger, and insecurity, and may bring urges to check, compare, or seek reassurance. It can reveal how much a bond matters. What defines it is the three-way structure: you, someone you value, and a perceived rival.
How it differs from Envy
Jealousy fears losing an existing relationship to a rival; envy simply wants what another person has.
Notice
When jealousy stirs, notice what you fear losing, and what you imagine the other person offers.
Where it is felt
Felt most in the chest, stomach and throat.
