Irritation

Anger at low intensity, usually triggered by repeated minor friction rather than one clear wrong.

How it shows up

Irritation tends to accumulate from small, repeated frictions: a dripping tap, a colleague's habit, interruptions on a tired day. It shows up as short replies, tightness around the head and shoulders, and a lower threshold for everything else. It can signal that a need such as rest, space, or quiet is not being met. Its low intensity and cumulative nature distinguish it from anger at a clear wrong.

How it differs from Anger

Irritation is low-level and builds from repeated small frictions; anger is stronger and usually responds to a clearer wrong.

Notice

Notice whether irritation today is about the thing in front of you or about a pile of smaller things.

Where it is felt

Felt most in the head, chest and face.
